A BAIT FOR AUSTRALIA. (Received Last Night, 9.50 o'clock). SYDNEY, February 16. In connection with 'the rumour that an American Meat Trust is prospecting Australia, tie Pastoralists' Review states that it has been in.- ! formed from an-' authentic source that Swift aud-Co., the American packers, are about to qffor '7 .par cent, preferred stock to owners in Australasia. The Review adds:— "It is a tempting bait, and if they get hold of ifhe source of supply it may not take long to captuT© the works and whole trade."
