"A POLITICAL CARTOON."
The jury in the libel action brought; by Mr Massey, M.P., against the New Zealand Times, has found, that while the cartoon complained of alluded to the plaintiff, it.was not libellous, because it was political. A verdict was consequently given for the defendants. A new, peril is consequently placed in the path of the politician. He may be called a '.'political '.' prevaricator," a "political slanderer,!' a.,,..■ "political highwayman,- ; a ' 'political's anything, and-ke will .have no redress., 'The judges byaccepting <the verdict of the jury, has decided that this is law. All one can say is, "If this is law, Heaven help the politician!" «
