MASTERTON COUNTY COUNCIL.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting cf the Master- , ton County Council was held yesterday afternoon. There were present: Crs. C. Kebbell (chairman), J. Morris, J. Miller, A. Murray, D. J. Cameron, R. F. Beethaim, and H. Toogood. The Finance Committee reported as follows: —Bank general fund account, dr., £1432 17s lOd; Local Bodies loans I account, er., £2061 15s; accounts, credit balance, £550 9s lid; receipts since January 10th, 1911, including rates £1256 9s 6, making a total of ' £1355 2s 9d. Accounts amounting to £1595 Is M, presented for payment as per time sheet were passed. The Committee recommends that the Council give the application of Mr H. P. Hansen favourable consideration by instructing the engineer to widen the formation for a distance of about seven chains from the end of the present cart track to Mr Hansen's slip f panel, the work to be charged to I ' Rakaunui road thirds, and proceeded I with as soon as possible. The Committce also recommends the Council to instruct tho Engineer to report on the proposal of the Mauriceville County Council with regard to the two bodies joining in acquiring a gravel pit lis suggested in a letter from the Mauriceville County Council. Mr C. M. Sykes wrote'offering land for improving the corner at the tion of the Upper Plain Road and the Akura Loop. Line. ; - The matter was left in the hands of the chairman, with power to act. The Maurieevillo County Council wrote with reference to a suggestion that the ■ two. Counties of Masterton and-Mauriceville should:unite in acquiring land for a metal pit at a point on the main road near what is known as Clarke's Bridge. The Advances to Settlers' Offices notified that the Fernridge water supply loan had been finally passed. Debentures for it and the Black Creek Bridge loan would be forwarded shortly. The Public Works Department notified that £229 8s Id was available for 'the Alfredton-Tinui Road. The Engineer was instructed to prepare proposals for expenditure. The action of the chairman (Cr. Kebbell) in agreeing to pay the Eketahuna County Council twenty per cent of the heavy traffic license fees was approved. The Engineer was instructed to have the sum of £l2O spent on the JJriti Road on the East Coast.
