BARTON'S CIRCUS. j Messrs Barton Bros.' huge combined shows—Circus and Olympia hippodrome—will open in Masterton tomorrow night. During the past few days the advance managers, Messrs Bradley and Sullivan, and their staff of asistants, have been making arrangements for a grand opening here, and, judging by the arrangements that have.been made, the amusement-lov-ing public are to be catered for on a lavish scale. There are 70 performing horses, donkeys, ponies and mules, all I being in the pink of condition. There are also thirty star artists, including six of the funiest clowns alive, and four dummies of exceptional merit. The artists include Miss Mena. Val, trick cyclist and wire walker, also the only lady stock and bullock whip cracker in Australia, using various whips, varying in size and weight, from the ordinary whip to Henderson's monster stockwhip, measuring 60ft. and weighing 1321b; the Alton trio, late of the Sanger Circus (of England), acrobats and ground and lofty tumblers; Madame Burton, a daring' and fearless lady bareback rider; Little Lindsay, the child wonder/also the funniest and youngest dummy in the colonies; Master Roy Barton, the world's champion jockey rider; Jack West, a marvellous hand balancer. Perhaps the most interesting of all is the buckjumping. The management have offered £SO to anyone that can ride the famous outlaw, Sandfly, in a poley saddle. kelly gang picture drama. ' town^hallTto-night. To-night, at the Town Hall, residents of Masterton and district will have the. opportunity' of seeing' the new picture drama, illustrative of the doings of the Kelly gang, which John Fuller . and the Taylor-Carrington management are presenting. In the course of a lengthy and highly eulogistic article, a leading daily said: — "That the public has a penchant for drama full of stirring incident, even though its culmination is heavily col-j oil red,, no one can doubt, who has seen the huge audiences that assemble nightly at the Opera House to see the remarkable series of pictures illustrating "the doings of the Kelly Gang, A b each successive representation the, great building is packed to the doors, and the, lawless adventures of thek career are'followed with eager interest. To say that the series is heavily charged with incident is to inadequately describe their sensationalism. The set- i ting of the desperate affrays and wild escapades has been arranged at all points with ail eye to dramatift''effect. As aj, whole the entertainment takes premier rank among shows' ot"its kind". Popular prices, with ladies' and children's concessions,'will prevail.
