LONDON MARKETS. '['lie N. Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. have rem-ed the til lowing cablegram from their London house: —Wheat. Sold at 355, e.i.f., handy Australian cargo. Very little demand owing to increased supplies. Market likely to decline. We quote: I'er quarter, c.i.f., New Zealand wh:>at. long-berried, 30s 9d; short-berried. 30.", 3d. TE WHARAU SALE. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report that at the Te Wharau sale on Thursday fully 10,000 sheep were yarded between the three firms selling. Buyers attended in satisfactory numbers, and bidding for all lines of young sheep offered was good. This is the first sale that has been held in that district, and the result to vendors must be considered satisfactory,. as the prices realised were quite on a par with those ruling at recognised yards throughout the district. The condition of most of the lines offered was satisfactory, there being some really good lines of wethers and lambs offered. We quote as followsTwotooth wethers, 10s 9d; f.m. ewes, 5s l()d to 6s; failing mouth ewes, 4s lid; sound mouth ewes, 6s to 9s lOd; good conditioned lambs, woolly, 9s 3d; 2-tooth Romney rams bred by J. H. Tatham, 2J to 4J guineas. , Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Te .Wharau sale, held on Thursday, 9th inst., as follows : The sale was held r.i Land's End, in Mr Donald Douglas' yards, and was well attended by settlers from a distance. The .stock on the whole was of a good' class, but in a number of cases could have been drafted to better advantage. Business at auction w&s satisfactory, and practically the whole yarding was cleared. Prices in some instances were, however, lower than migiit have been reasonably expected. The hospitality shown to visitors by Mr and Mrs Douglas was keenly appre* ciated by all present. Two and 4tooth wethers, good, 12s 4d; 2-tooth wethers, 10s to 10s 9d; woolly wether lairibs, good 1 , 9s sd; others, 6s 3d; shorn wether iambs in good condition 8s 3d; mixed age ewes, 10s 3d; f.m. ewes, 6s; crocks down to 3s; cows and calves, £4. 6s.
EEETAHUNA STOCK SALE. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Eketalnina sale held on Friday, 10th inst:— Stock came forward in excess of advertised numbers. The attendance of the public -svas fair, but bueyrs from a distance were not prominent. Business at auction dragged, but on the whole a satisfactory sale must bo reported, considerably better than the last week or two. Mr F. B. Lowes' 2-tooth ewes, which' were in backward condition, compared previous 3-ears, made 10s 3d; ag .d ewes on behalf of same vsndor, 32s 6d. Not many cattle were yarded, but all we offered changed hands at prices on a . par with other centres. Two-tooth ewes, small, 10s 3d and up to 12s 7d for a good Lincoln lot aged ewes, 9s to 12s 6d, according to condition; shorn lambs, 4s Sd io ss; store cows, £3 7s; mother reared calves, good, £2 Is; forward heifers £4 6s; weaner heifers, 20s; s pigs, 15s; slips, 4s.
