WAIRARAPA EGG CIRCLE.

ANNUAL BEPOTJT. ■ The annual report of the Wairarapa Egg Circle, for the year ended Janxiary 31st, 1911, which was presented to last night's meeting, was as follows : The Committee have much pleasure in presenting to you their first annual report, statements of accounts, and balance-sheet for tlio year ended January 31st, 1911. As members are aware the Circle commenced forwarding eggs to Wellington on the 10th May last, 83| dozen being despatched on that date, and up to the end- of the year the splendid total of 20.728 (tv/en'o ' thousand seven hundred and twe-'v-eight) dozen were forwarded, realising the sum of £1099 5s 6d. The success of the Circle has in a . large measure been dui. to our agent, Mr W. A. Jessen, who at all times has done his best to further its interests, and members will no doubt be pleased, to know that the delegates at the late Poultry Conference made appreciative references to his work, and all considered thaj; he had done remarkably well. Members have every reason to he satisfied with the eight months work- . ing of the Circle, and though the bank balance is only 'ls 7d (four shillings and seven pence), our surplus of £23 4s l'ld assets over liabilities, shows that-we are in a good condi- . tion fiaancially, more so when it is taken into consideration that quite a large amount of preliminary expenditure necessary «for the - inauguration of the Circle will not be recurring. During October the proposed Carterton .Circle decided to amalgamate with this Circle, with a view to reducing expenses as to commission, etc., and up to the present we have 19 members from there, and hope to obtain many more. The thanks of ' the Circle are due to Mr W. Tucker, who is attending to the necessary forwarding work at Carterton. Last November a Conference of those interested in the poultry industry was held in Wellington, at which our secretary attended as official representation 'from this Circle, andwho will give a report in connection tlioreto at this , meeting. The Committee, recognising the advisability of keeping its existence before the public, decided to hold meetings at 'Kuripuni; Fcrnridge, and Lansdowne. The first meeting -was fairly well attended, the Fernridge one lapsed , owing to counter attractions, and the Lansdowne one was abandoned owing to the heavy rain. The Committee have considered the question .of-supply of poultry food, etc., and as you are aware, issued circulare asking for information from members, many of whom for some reason or other have not troubled to give the necessary particulars, with the result that the-matter is being held over pending this meeting. The Committee consider that by members supporting the buying of food, etc., from one quarter (by tender) it will moan a considerable saving during the year. During the year the Committee held 15 meetings, which were attended ■ as follows:—T. H. Rutherford 15, H. J. O'Loary H. H. W. Jackson 9, T. Edge 6, W. H. Slxute 6, C. A. Han-. ■ berg 4, W. P. Simpson 3, J. MeCausland 1, and secretary 15. The Circle's thanks are due to Messrs J. A. J. Maclean and Co., who generously allowed the, use of their auction mart for a receiving depot for some months free of charge; and to the local newspapers ' for their kindly assistance in giving publicity tc tho Circle's doings, which materially helped to increase the-"member-ship, and to Mr Jarrett,..who audited the accounts. .: .TluiX'ommittee-wish to place on re-, cord the splendid services givoti for many months gratuitously by Mr H. M. Boddington, the secretary.
