WAIRARAPA EGG CIRCLE.

FIRST ANNUAL MEETING. The first annual meeting of the members of the Wairarapa Egg Circle was held in the Y.M.C.A. Rooms last evening. There was a good attendance of members, including a number from Carterton. The chair was occupied by Mr T. H. Rutherfurd. The chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, (which is published elsewhere in this 'morning's issue) referred to the steady progress made by the Circle since its establishment, and emphasised the importance of strengthening the membership. The report and balance sheet was adopted. Messrs F. Fellingham and Scharnweber were elected new members of the Circle. Mr R. 0. Jarrett was re-elected auditor pro tem. In proposing that Mr H. M. Bod-' dington be re-elected to the position of secretary and treasurer to the Circle, the chairman referred in eulogistic terms to the splendid work done by him during the past year. He (the speaker) did not think it was possible to have the work done better, and one only had to be associated with Mr Boddington in the business details to realise the amount of work he had done to further the sphere of the operations of the Circle. * Several other members spoke in similar terms, and Mr Boddington was unanimously re-elected to the position. The following were elected the Committee for the ensuing year:— Messr-s T. H. Rutherfurd, H. J. O'Leaty, J. Sillars (Masterton), arid H. Armstrong, W. H. Baillie (Carterton). . Mr Boddington, who was an official delegate of the Circle at the Poultry Conference held in Wellington in i ovember last, submitted a lengthy report of the proceedings. It had been decided to form an Association to be called the N.Z. Poultry Association, to which Egg Circles and other poultry associations or societies can become members, the membership fee to be sixpence per member of each Egg Circle, and 10s for Associations and Societies. The objects of the Association were for organising the poultry industry, in New Zealand, and making arrangements for the management of Egg Circle Agents in the four cities.. The meeting had v practically adopted the rules of the Masterton Circle forthe iise of future Circles. The chairman referred to the comprehensiveness of the report andthe good work done by Mr Boddington as their delegate to the conference. After some discussion it was decided to affiliate with the New Zealand Poultry Association. It was decided that Rule 26 be amended so that the Committee make "monthly" settlements with its members instead of "fortnightly." . |
