THE "SUCCESS" DREDGE.
. —_4 MR HESSEY INTERVIEWED.
An Age representative interviewed Mr J. Hessey last night in regard to the working of tke "Success" dredge. Mr Hessey was very optimistic concerning the possibilities of the future. Mr Hessey said be was disgusted to hear that rumours had been circulated to the. effect that the dredge had broken down. This was ridiculous, because the dredge was perhaps the best in New Zealand, and .was at the present time working perfectly. She was opening out, and would not be h\ full working order for about three weeks, or, a month. The second wash up was 16 ozs, Bdwt. for a week's work, but Mr Hessey was practically certain that in a very short time it would only require about three : days' working to secure that- amount. The gold in the locality was very fine, and it had been decided to install more saving plant, an operation which would occasion only a few hours' delay. In conclusion-,' :Mr Hessey said-.that he was confident of the' retiirns increasing, and in time he thought the:weekly re-' turn would reach 60ozs. The result •of the-third wash-up, will be available some time to-morrow.
