TWO NEW PLAYS.
AMAZING POPULARITY. In the amiflsement world of London during the past few months the chief features have been the amazing popularity of two plays, Sir Herbert Tree's presentation of Shakespeare's -"Henrys VIII.," a, presentation gorgeous, spectacular, and harmonious in a way difficult to describe, and the musical play, "The Chocolate Soldier." The latter has caught on as no musical play has done since "The Belle of New York." It is tuneful, it has a coherent plot, and its leading waltz theme, "Hero Mine," is the rage of the hour. You hear it played by every restaurant band, and even the diners rouse themselves to demand an encore; it is stepped at every dance and hummed by every errand boy.
