OUR RAILWAYS.
DUNEDIN/-. Last' Night. The railway revenue for the ten months ended January "31st shows an increase of £251,000. over-the corresponding period of the previous year. The increase in revenue has Ibeen attended 'by an increase in expenditure of about 25 per cent. It cost the Department £65,000 extra to earn the additional £251,000. Bar* are being fitted on all car< x-iage platforms to prevent accidents in crossing from one carriage to another. One hundred and twenty carriages have b*en fitted, and the rest will be completed, in two months, and all will be charged to the working railway expenses, and not to capital.
