Perry), mentioned the good, Work done by Mi- John 1 Tait, the contractor for the buildings on tho new'Solway showgrounds. He said he thought the Committee, should recognise \ his services; He moved that Mr Ta.it be given a further bonus of £lO, in addition to the £3O already paid him. Mr Perry said he was satisfied the Committee could not have got the worlc done more economically than Mr Tait had done it. The Association had been saved hundreds of pounds. . , . ;' , Mr H. Morrison, in seconding the resolution, endorsed the remarks of the President. ~ '".'• , " Mi* Welch, Chairman of the General Committee, also supported the resolution, and stated that Mr Tait had practically-done the. work of two men. As far. as; he knew, hot a single - mistake had been made. Mr D. McGregor also eulogised the work done,by Mr Tait. ..Mr G. C.Summerell ventured, the opinion that if the work had been done by contract instead of day labour, it would have cost between* £6OO and £7OO, more than it had done.
