The New Zealand swimming championships opened in Wellington today, in tine weather, and with a large attendance of spectators. Results : j . 100 Yards. N.Z. Championship.— First Heat: C. Brieo (Wellington) 1, M. E. Champion (Auckland) 2, C. Atkinson (Christchurch) 3. Also started— E. J. Dawson (Dunedin), and J. Grant. (Hawera). Won in a touch. Tims, 63 4-ssee.. Second heat: B. C. Freyberg (Wellington)" 1, A. O'Hant (Auckland) 2, F. Roberts (Wellington) 3. , Also started— E C. Bull" (Christchurch), and F. Seymour (.Napier.) Won by about three feet, a touch separatng second and third. Time, 65 l-ssec. Third, heat: M. C. Stranger (Wellington) -,' C. Wilson (Auckland)-2, J.-y-D.j Stewart (Auckland) 3. Also started L. Dingle (Canterbury), G. Seymour (Napier),. Won by two feet, a foot between second and third. Time, 63 2-ssee. Final: C. Brice 1, M. E. Champion 2, ,B. C. Freyberg 3.
