Mr A. T. Hubbard, Stock Inspector, of Maisterton, met with an accident at Pongaroa on Wednesday through ; a horse kicking him on the leg. It is expected that he will be confined to his home for several days. Among the competitors at the Park Fete in Masterton yesterday was a pedestrian of the early days, in the person of Mr "Johnny". Orr, of .Hukanui. though now fifty-five years of age, is fleet of foot and game as ever. Though he did not win yesterday, he showed surprising fleetness.
A "kitchen" tea for Miss L. Stempa, who is shortly, to l>e married, was given at the residence of Mrs J. Carpenter, of Masterton, yesterday. There was a large gathering of guests, and a very pleasant afternoon was spent in music, song, and recitation.
