FIVE MURE BATTLESHIPS. INCREASE IX NAVAL ESTIv " MATES. Received This Morning, 12.10 o'clock LONDON, February 2. , It is stated that Britain's building programme includes five battleships. Mr Archibald Hurd, writing in the Fortnightly Review, states that he expects an increase in the Navy estimates this year of £4,000,000 to £5,000,000. During the past twenty years the German expenditure has increased from £4,500,000 to £22,500,000, the United States of America from £5,500,000 to £28,000,000, and that of Britain from £13,000,000 to £42,000,000.
