MAURICEVILLE COUNTY COUNCIL.
The usual monthly meeting of the Council was held on Saturday 28th January, there being present Crs. F. W. H. Rummer (chairman), H. J. Dagg, J. E. Perry, C. Forsberg, and C. Churchill Jackson. Correspondence was received from the Wellington Harbour Board, re cost of elections.—This the Clerk had replied to previous to the meeting. The Clerk to the Master ton County Council wrote requesting permission ,to carry on work on portion of the Wairere Road within the Mauriceville County, for which a Government grant was available.— Permission was granted. N A letter was received from the Chief Health Officer re the control of infectious diseases, for which the Hospital Boards are now responsible, and desiring the Council to continue to act until the necessary arrangements can be made for transfer of responsibility to the District Hospital Board.
The Valuer-General Avrote requesting information to be furnished respecting alterations required in Valuation Roll for next year, and when the Council proposes to strike rate. The Clerk was instructed to apply for a progress payment on account of work done in connection with Government grant for metalling Mangaoronga Road. Cr Dagg was authorised to get the roadman's whare painted'.
It wa» resolved to ask the Masterton County Council to.share in acquiring a metal pit on Main Road under the Public Works Act, the metal.to be used for the benefits of both Counties.
Cr Dagg was'appointed to inspect the ■ work being done on Mangaoronga Road. Accounts amounting to £359 12s Id were passed for payment.
