DISTRICT NEWS.
(From Our D" a Correspondents.) KASPARORC. A fortnight: of dry weather terminated on Thursday last, when a, good downpour of rain occurred. It was very much appreciated, as the district had been enveloped in smoke from bush fires for several days, and the rain cleared the .atmosphere. Wate .rwas also needed to refill tanks, many of which, had become dry, the owners being forced to resort to carrying water from the Makakahi river. Pastures and rape crops are now looking much refreshed.
A slight frost took place on Friday night. The highest test at the cheese factory during the past week was 4.1, the lowest 3.2.
.The local school opened yesterday, after the six weeks' vacation. It is arranged that the annual school picnic will be held early in February.
