The match for the Plunket Shield between Auckland, and Canterbury was continued to-day in fine weather. The wicket was tricky after the rain. Canterbury made a poor start. They had five wickets down for 84, but Reese and Patrick made a fine stand, carrying the total to 240 for six wickets, stumps being drawn three runs later. Following are the scores: — AUCKLAND. THE HAWKE'S BAY CHALLENGE

Auckland will play Hawke's Bay in a cricket match on February 3rd, 4thj and 6th, provided that Auckland retain the Plunket Shield. Hawke's Bay will endeavour to wrest the but a match will lie played in any case.
