BREACH OF THE PEACE.
Auckland; Last Night. Five men appeared at the Felice Court this morning, charged with •;•',, that they, with oortainotheF- persons, did, with into lit,, prevent the running of the Auckland Trotting Club's faces at Alexandra Park; assembled in such a manner and so: conducted themselves as to cause persons in the neighbourhood to fear they would disturb 'the peace; and simultaneously/and ftvthouVreasonable provoked other persons to disturb the peace tempestuously. The Magistrate, on the request of the. defendant's solicitor, agreed, to reduce the charge to on© ;of: /committing-' .ai hreach ;;6i .- the■'." peajce, 'gvijiy: Tlie -Magistrate said the" offence would not be looked at in a mild manner. The accused; had given considerable t trouble, and their action might have led to bloodshed. He fined each £5. and costs.
