SCHOOL CADETS.

The School Cadets who are in camp in the South Island have passed a resolution expressing the opinion that the cadet forces should remain under the Education Department instead of being transferred to the Defence' Department. Such a resolution will be very, pleasing to Major McDorialjd, the very excellent and suave Commandant of the School.'Cadet§. But all the same, it is" ludicrous in itself. The next resolution we shall probably hear i,f is from the Y.M.C.A. or a Football Club, protesting against its members joining the Territorials because they are already; well disciplined. , If me cadet- force is to be the recruiting igvound for our Territorials, it must be under the control bf the Commandant of the Forces, and nobody else. Major ~McDonald must not be considered in such a matter, highly qualified; though he may be.
