TINUI. Most people in the Wairarapa who have not actually been to Castlepoint have heard of its beauties as a seaside resort, the huge cave, with its weird sounds, that was once believed to be the home of ghosts; the rugged reef that the waves have been tumbling against for unknown ages; and the rocks, if they could only speak, could many a love story unfold. The old settlers, who land-' ed fifty years ago, often tell fireside stories of the fun and gay times that used to he at Castlepoint. But old and young all agree that the impromptu dance given by Dr Mcßae last Monday evening eclipsed anything of the sort ever held at Casitdepoint. The landing shed, which was kindly lent for the occasion- by Mr P. Belliss, was cleared of wool and produce, and made an ideal dance room, and as Di* Mcßae believes in doing things in a wholehearted manner, all rigid formality was thrown aside, and l one and all were asked to come and partake of the warm hospitality of our genial Doctor. Visitors arrived from all parts of the district, and to the pleasant, surprise ..of everybody,: forGunn and the Misses. Johnston ar:riyed . ' from . Carterton. ■- At ten o'clock there were twenty-seven couples present, enjoying the evening to a full degree. Messrs IL O'Kane and Ihaia Whakamairu ' supplied splendid music, while Mr A. A. Cameron carrietl out the duties of M.C. in a capable manner. Mes-' dames Johnston, Sutton and limes and Messrs Sutton (2) assisted to make the gathering a success. Three hearty cheers for Dr Mcßae "brought to a close the most sociable gathering ever held at Castlepoint. .
