THE PARISIAN'S CASTAWAYS. AN OFFICER'S NEGLECT. (Received January 26, 10.45 a.m.) PERTH, January 26. It is alleged that through the neglect of a Civil servant the crew of the Parisiana —who were rescued by the steamer British Transport at St. Paul's Island after the burning of their vessel —had to travel twentyfour hours by train from Albany to Perth without food. They had no money. The Government' directed that they should be fed, but an officer neglected to telegraph instructions. The Premier (Mr Frank Wilson) decided to draw the attention' ol the French authorities to the fact that the store of provisions at St. Paul's Island, where the crew landed, had not been renewed for eighteen years. The biscuits were mouldy, and unfit to eat.
