AQUATIC CARNIVAL.
WAIRARAPA AMATEUR SWIMMING CLUB. The fourth animal meeting of the Wairarapa Amateur Swimming Club was held yesterday under circumstances which were in every respect auspicious. The weather was delightfully fine, and the attendance of the public was highly satisfactory. The whole of the arrangements for the meeting were perfect, and everything passed off without a hitch. Mr T. Shields, of Wellington, (Consul for the N.Z.A.S.A.) acted as referee, whilst Mr James Pr.vor, as supervisor, did excellent work. The judges were as follows : —Diving and life-saving, Mr T. Shields and" Mr A. Snowball; swimming, R. F. Crosby, A. H. Eddy, G. H. Cullen, and A. Snowball; other events, J. M. MeTCenzie, A. Prague!!, and E. J. Rose. Messrs A. D. Gillies, J. A. McE wen and J. Pryor acted as* starters, and gave every satisfaction. The check starters were Messrs B. Clayson, G. Cullen. and E. J. Rose, .and the timekeepers were Messrs T. Shields,. J. Bradbury, D. Walsh and A. Henderson. Mr" J. Arthur did good service as clerk of course. The secretary, Mr J. Georgeson, did everything possible to ensure the success of the' meeting, and was ably assisted by Mr J. A. McE wen". During the afternoon music was supplied by'the Masterton Municipal Brass Band. Afternoon tea ; was provided by Miss Pickering.
