THE SOLWAY PICNIC
•■' ■ A PRONOUNCED SUCCESS. The invitation picnic held on tfca new showgrounds of the JVlasterton A .and P. Association at Solway on Thursday was a brilliant success. The weather was perfect, and fully two thousand persons were present. The Committee of the , Association, , with the assistance of a number of. townspeople, worked hard to ensure \ the enjoyment; <)f the visitors, and 1 ; the results of their Efforts Were fav- ' : ourably commented upon by alii, •Numerous races and other amuse;mentsyivere provided for the children, Sand much interest was cen- y tred in . the between- the v Committee and All-Comers. The win of the Committee, 'jfceam, which was brain", wasexcet&nglypopular. The visitors inspejcte'dtne grounds and i buildings, ami weire delighted with the whole environments of the place.' Afternoon tea was., supplied by Miss Pickering, and was tfery much appre-. ' ciated, though the conduct of some of the visitors, in' rushing the tables was somewhat .unbecoming, and created a little annoyance.
