LONDON WOOL SALES. By Tcleyraph — Fress Association. (Received January 18, 11 o'clock.) LONDON, January 17. The wool sales opened briskly with a 5 to 10 per cent, decline. Messrs Levin, and Co.,- Ltd., have received a cable from their London agents as follows: The wool sales have opened. There is a large attendance of buyers. Compared with closing rates of last sales good merinos have declined 5 per cent. Inferior and faulty merinos 7$ per cent., medium cross bred 5 per cent., coarse crossbred per cent. PAHIATUA STOCK SALE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report'having held their weekly sale in the Mangahao yards yesterday, when they offered a good entry of sheep and cattle. In sheep, the entries comprised young ewes, wethers, lambs, and a few aged ewes, which met a rather dull sale under the hammer, but were sold privately before the end of the sale in favour of buyers. Cattle were represented by good young useful sorts of weaners, dairy heifers, steers, store cows etc., which sold slightly under late rates. We quote as' follows: Woolly rape lambs, 8s 6d to 9s, small lambs, 4s 5d to 6s 6d; 2-tooth wethers, 9s Gd to lis; 2-tooth ewes 12s 6d; 4 and 6-tooth ewes, 14s; f.m. ewes, 5s 9d to 7s 6d; sound mouth ewes, 9s 6d; 18-months dairy heifers, £3 13s; 18months steers, £2 15s to £3; cows and calves, £3 lid; store cows, £4 2s to' £4 lis; fat cows, £4 10s to £5; weaner calves, £1 ss, £1 10s to £1 14s; bulls, £2 15s to £3. JOHNSONVILLE STOCK SALE. (By Telegraph—Special to the Age.) JOHNSONVILLE, LasT-Night., Messrs Abraham and Williams' Ltd., report on their Johnsonville sale as follows: We offered a good yarding of prime cattle and sheep'; which'sold readily at late rates.
