THE TOTALISATOR.

MR HOGG THINKS IT SHOULD GO. The opinions expressed by Mr Hogg, M.P., in Masterton last evening, concerning the totalisator, were interesting. The bookmaker had, he said, gone tho way of the barmaid, but the tatalisator was retained. He did not join in the curses bestowed on the bookmaker. There were worse people in the world than the betting man, although he considered it was not a good business. He considered if the bookmaker was extinguished, the totalisator should go, but the racing people said it would ruin the clubs, and the machine was retained. Football, cricket, and athletic clubs got along without the totalisator; why not horseracing?
