THE SLAUGHTERMEN'S AWARD.

AND THE BOROUGH ABATTOIRS At the meeting of the Masterton Borough Council last evening, Cr Temple stated tuat he had been told that the slaughtermen's award provided that the men employed at the abattoirs could be paid per hundred animals slaughtered, as was done at the freezing works. If that were so, a sum of £l5O could be saved every year. Cr Pragnell stated that he had also been informed that such was the case. Or Prentice suggested that manager be asked to present a report. The Mayor stated that it was a matter worth considering. It was decided to obtain a report from the manager on the subject.
