By Telegraph — Press Association. DANNEVIRKE, Last Night. The annual Lawn Tennis Tournament opened to-day, in line weather. There was a large entry, comprising the best known players of the Dominion. Eighty-six games were played during the day. The following were the results of the; first round.of the championship events:— , > Men's Championship Singles.- H. W. Brown defeated JV E. Marshall, 6—3? 6—o; C. C. Cox defeated C. Blundell, 6—3, 6—o; J. L. Blundell defeated G. L. Hartgill, 6—l, 6—5; Parker defeated 6—l, 6—o; Fisher defeated Druce, 6—4, 6—4. Combined Championship DoublesMiss Travers and Fisher defetated Miss M. Ryan and Rowe, 6—l, 6—o; Miss Nunnelly and H. W. Brown defeated Miss Neville and Tomoana, 6—2, 6—l; Miss L. Williams and Parker defeated Miss Braithwaite and -J. -lartgill, 6—2, 5_6, B—6; Miss Hartgill and C. C. Cox defeated Miss Bolton and G. Ulrich, 6—l, 6—2; Miss Williams and Parker defeated .. Miss Braithwaite and Hartgill, 6—2, 5—6, •B—6. Ladies' Championship Singles.— Miss Travers defeated Miss J. Hindmarsh, 6—l, 6—2; Miss Nunnelly defeated Miss Gray, 6—2, 6—o; Miss L. Williams, defeated Miss Hartgill, 2—6, 6—l, 7—5. Ladies' Championship Doubles.— Misses- Clark and J. Hindmarsh defeated Misses E. Wellwood and Irvine, 6—2, 6—2; Misses Hughes and Bolton defeated Misses Simpson and Brewster, 6—2, 6—2. Men's Championship Doubles.— J. and G. L. Hartgill defeated Pidduck and Barker, 6—2, 6—3; F. M.
