AMALGAMATED RAILWAY SERVANTS.
PROPOSED AFFILIATION WITH TRADES COUNCIL. The following resolution was passed at a meeting of the Masterton branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants on Saturday last:— "That the conference, meeting at Wellington in February next, be j asked to consider the advisability of [ taking a ballot of the wholo of the Society on the question of affiliating with the Trades and Labour Council or the Federation of Labour." This step has been taken in view of the fact, it is alleged, that the Minister for Railways has broken his promise in regard to recognising the Enginedrivers' and Firemen and Cleaners'. Association. It is stated that some years ago the Department gave a promise that if the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants would refrain from affiliating with any outside body, Government would not recognise any other body of railway servants. f
