WAIRARAPA APIARIES
AN EXTENSIVE BUSINESS. In conversation with a representative of the Age on Saturday, Mr William Lenz, the well-known Masterton apiarist, expressed the opinion that the yield of honey this season would be larger than that of last year, the season having been more favourable. Mr Lenz-stated that he had about--1200 colonies of bees under his control, and these were located at eleven different farms, or yards, distributed throughout the district. With the assistance of two men, he managed the whole of these farms himself. Although disease was known to bo prevalent among the bees in the district, he had succeeded in keeping the whole of his colonies in a healthy condition. The ouptut of honey, which is now very considerable, is disposed of to wholesale merchants.
