ATTENDANCE AT SCHOOLS.
The "Education Act, 1910," contains an important* provision concerning school attendance. Under .section 9, ' 'Everyichild between the ° v 'age of seven and'fourteen years is "hereby required to have his or her "name enrolled on the register of "some public school, and to attend "the said school whenever it is open." The usual exemptions from attendance have been retained, with the addition of "severe stress of weather, sudden and serious illness of a parent." Parents will therefore remember that in future no ordinary excuse will be accepted, and that absence on any day that the school is open will constitute an offence under the Act.
