MR J. C. WILLIAMSON'S NEW COMIC OPERA COMPANY. I "THE DOLLAR PBINC3SS." If public opinion is to be gauged by advance booking the of. those anxious to secure seats for "The Dollar Princess" yesterday, points to a flourishing run. "The Dollar Princess lis spoken of as being one of, the (/.brightest of comic operas. The story j of the play briefly is the vicissitudes that befall'an American multi-million-aire in a novel endeavour to run a palatial establishment with members of the British aristocracy as hewers lof wood and drawers of water. These evolve, it is said, a combination of humorous circumstances that give, the many clever people concerned in the interpretation exceptional chances to distinguish themselves. All the world loves a lover, therefore as romance is the joy note it may he expected that the iove affairs of the two "Dollar Princesses" will find much favour. In Mr J. C. Williamson's production at the Town Hall,' Masterton, on Monday Miss Florence Young will appear as'the mock Countess Olga, Miss Olive Godwin as Alice Conder, Miss
Lottie Sargeant as Daisy, .Mr Bert. Gilbert 'as H. Q. Conder (the eccentric: millionaire), MrrHcrhert Clayton as Freddy Fairfax, and Mr Frank Greene as the Earl of Qiiorn, Mr. W. S. Percy as "Bugler, Mr Victor Prince as Tartaroff. The plot of "The Dollar Princess" would seem, besides being distinctly original, is of a legitimate nature, the dialogue being-es-pecially brilliant. The music, which is by the famous Dr. Leo. Fall, is said to charm the ear with a peculiar glamour. One of the features is the expensive costuming of the opera. Dresses costing several hundreds of pounds are worn in one scene lasting barely five minutes, while throughout the play the many costumes that are displayed are the latest confections. A specially augmented orchestra under the direction of Mr Fitz Hart, will l>6 responsible for the music, the exigencies of which demand the services of the best of orchestra players. THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES. The change of programme at the Foresters' Hall last evening was greeted with a full house. It was an excellent entertainment in all respects ,there being pictures to please all tastes. "Lost in the Soudan" rtnd "'The Iconoclast" appeared to be tile favourite dramas with the audience. The former is an exciting subject ,an-d is produced in the Sflig Company's well-known style, every attention having been given to detail, while the. other picture is one of the American Biograph Company's best works, and is a very powerful study. "In Life's Cycle" is another first-class drama by the American Biograph Company. The comedy-dramas and comics are an excellent lot, the pick being "Foolshead Between Two Fires" and A* Tale of Two Coats." There is also a splendid series of instructive and scenic films, which met with the apJ probation of tho e present. The pro- ! gramme will be shown again this evening.
