VANCOUVER MAIL SERVICE.
• *■ MR FISHER'S CABLE. Received This Morning, 12.45 O'clock. MELBOURNE, January 11. ! Mr Fisher's cable to Sir Wilfrid , Laurier asked whether, assuming that Canada had closed with the Union Company for the Vancouver service ) to New Zealand, he will consent to inviting tenders for an Australian service. Mr Fisher has determined that the call at Brisbane must be continued, and as this'appears, apart from other considerations, to conflict with a call lat Auckland, there is likelihood, if i Canada should agree to the proposal, I of fresh tenders being called.
