" : WELLINGTON, Last Night." ' : The Rev. D. C. Bates' summary and forecast are as follow.—iA westerly storm ax*ea enveloped the. country on Saturday evening, and westerly gales were afterwards prevalent south of Kawhia and Castlepoint. A Westerly gale is reported this evening at Farewell Spit. Thunderstorms occurred in parts', and heavy rain fell on the west coast of the South Island, and in other parts. Present indications are for squally and showery weather in parts, with variable w ; inds, but moderate to strong southerly winds prevailing shortly everywhere, and fair weather probably following. The barometer* is due to rise steadily everywhere soon.
