SECOND ANNUAL SHOW
'••• ! fhe big 'success' that attended the. initial effort of the Pahiatua-Akitio A. and P. Association last year, when the attendance was estimated at,four thousand (the largest gathering ever assembled' together in the Forty-Mile Bush) has tempted the .committee to launch out on a somewhat bigger scale. for their second annual show. Not only has the prize money been substantially increased, but several important classes have been added to the programme, making it a very attractive one. The prize list, which has just been " issued, incluf/s classes for horses.cattle,. 'i:iC ; :" offered for the best; Jersey 'u.a; any age), sheep and pigs. will be held on the •Pahiatua. racecourse on Friday, February 10th. The horticultural and industrial- sections, consisting of 'clasEce'for •flowers, fruit, vegetables; elects?/.butter; (for the two lastnamed .classes the prizes have been considerably increased), fancy work and children's exhibits, will be held in the Drill Hall, Pahiatua, on Thursday and Friday, the 9th and 10th of February- A special feature in connection with the gathering
will be the jumping competitions— Pony Jump, Maiden Hunters' Competition, ladies' Hunting Competition, i'-:U( an open hunters' event of £2O. t'br these competitions five acres d ; land, facing the grandstand, have bean set" apart, the ground in the meantime having been ploughed, rolled and sown with the best English grasses, the result being that it is in perfect condition for-jumping.purposes. Tliar« will also be a pony race over three-quarters of a mile, and a trotting race (saddle) once round the .course, for which valuable cash prizes are offered.' Entries for; all
