SHEEP AT THE SHOW.
MASTERTON INVITES COMPETITION.
The remarkable successes attained by Wairarapa breeders in the Romney and Lincoln sheep classes at the various spring shows in the . North and. South Islands will naturally excite additional i uterest in the autumn show to be held oii the new grounds at. Solway, Masterton, next month. The sheep are shown under different conditions in the autumn than in. the spring, and the judges will doubtless experience -some difficulty in making their awards. Will the laurels gained by the Wairarapa in the spring be wrested from it in the autumn? Mr Ernest Short";i of' Parorangi, has returned from the Argentine, and may possibly determine to enter his well-known Romneys in competition with those of Mr Perry. r lheu there are Lincoln breeders of Hawkc's Bay, and Romney breeders of the West Coast, who "must not be overlooked, whilst Canterbury and Auckland Provinces, are not unlikely, to contest the position. .Solway will be the convincing ground J for at least two of the most impor- ' tant classes of sheep in the Dominion, and naturally the greatest enthusiasm is being displayed. The for fat sheep, too, is likely to produce great competition, whilst Southdowns, Shropshires, and other classes will be well filled. Numerous championship cups are being offered, to say nothing of the coveted Quibell | Cup and the championships allotted by the Sheepbreeders' Association.
