ROBBED AT THE BANK.
LADY LOSES DEPOSIT. An audacious robbery was perpetrated in the Bank of New South Wales, Collins Street, Melbourne, la-t week, clurin"- one of the busiest periods of the dav, When Mrs Elizabeth Clarke, of Camberwell, was the loser of £l2O. Mrs Clark sat down at the tabic nearest the entrance, and prepared to deposit £l2O, which had been paid over to her as the result of a.land sale. The money consisted of twelve £lO notes, and these she placed in a roll on the table. A man who had been sitting opposite suddenly reached across the table, seized the roll of notes, and made a hurried departure. Mrs Clarke was so astonished that she could merely stare in astonishment for some seconds. Then she followed in his steps, but on reaching the door found that the robber had vanished. As she did not observe the man closely, Mrs Clarke is finable to give a description of him.
