WEDDING AT TE WHARAU.

VENNELL—BARRER. A wedding in which considerable interest was manifested "took * place ; at the residence of Mr R. Barrer, ''Lowlands," on Tuesday last, when Mr George W. Vennell was married to. Miss Frances Charlotte <Fanny) Barrer. The ceremony was performed by (the Rev.- H. Watson, of Mas.ter.ton, in the presence of a large gathering of friends. The bride, who was given away by her brother, wore a tailor-made costume of ivory doeskin cloth and picturesque pale blue silk hat, trimmed with clusters of wistria of blue and amethyst shades, and wreath of small cream roses round the crown. She was attended, 'Hby "M ; iss Rertha Kummer as bridesmaid, who .wore a white eitihroider-\ ed frock and large black hat trimmed with pale blue. . She carried sheaves,, of pale pink and cream 1 cream ,of honeysuckle, and wore a gold brooch of turquoise and peaii-i, gifts, of the bridegroom. Mr, Paul Rummer was best man. '* The bride's mother,' who was gowned in black silk, and pretty black and white embroidered chiffon bonnet, held a reception in the grounds. A marque© was erected for the occasion, where refreshments,; were served. Toasts were given and honoured by Messrs A. Malcolm McGregor, "Hi--korangi," W. C. Buchanan M.P., P. Kummer, W. B. Preshaw, R. Barrer, and H. Preshaw. A Maori lady, made,an appropriate speech on behalf of the Maori guests, after which the bride and bridegroom.- left by motor car, Mrs Vennell going away in a long cream serge coat relieved .with two tone reseda green facings, marrabout scarf,, cream hat trimmed with ostrich feathers and pearl ornaments.
