BOOMING AND BURSTING.
Tlie adaptation of an old aphorism to the tune of "'Tis better to have boomed ; and burst than never to have boomed at all," has no special charm for the avei'age Wellingtohian just now. The Empire City has had its boom, and. the burst has wrecked hundreds of innocent homes. The syndicator is now practising his nefarious art in the Queen City, and Auckland is said to be "enjoying" a boom. The northerners are welcome to all the joy to be derived from'. a period of "boom." The aftermath will be a day of reckoning.
