A REMARKABLE ESCAPE.
A boy "aincd Albert Porter, hvmg n Camperdown, Sydney, had a remarkable escape from drowning re•ently. He and another boy were m i storm-water channel, when they rotted a large volume of water sweeping down the channel. The two boys imrried to get out of the canal, and Porter's companion reached a place ot safety. Porter's foot, however, slipped on the side of the canal, and before he could recover himself the water was upon him. He disappeared in the swirling foam at the head < of the rush, and the last his companion saw of him was as he turned a bend. \ few minutes after he .disappeared , down the pipe under the Parramatta Road, two pedestrians noticed what looked like blood stains in the water, and in a few minutes saw a body being whirled past. They managed to_ re- , cover it, and after dragging it from the water, commenced the task oi re- ■ suseitation. After some minutes work their efforts were rewarded by seeing their patient, who was Porter, recover consciousness.
