TURF NOTES. (By "Zetland.") Withdrawals from the first day's list at the Wairarapa meeting are Outlander, Rangiatua, Papamarama, and Vibration. Diabolo's ailment that caused his withdrawal from the Auckland Cup is said to bo a form of paralysis. Naumai is being returned to his owner, Mr Wiri Powene. The Conqueror gelding still retains a lino dash of pace, but when the opposition is at all brilliant ho stops quickly before traversing five furlongs. Penates may not bo seen out a- the Wairarapa meeting, being somewhat sore. Now that the tracks provide softer going than is usual in the summer his owner might consider it advisable to give the Ruenelf horse a chance of bettering his recent performances H. Gray now heads the list of winning jockeys on the flat this season with 26 wins, while W. Young with 15 victories is in the lead in hurdle- racing. Tho principal events to be run at the Auckland meeting on Monday are the Great Northern Derby, of 1000 sovs., and the Racing Club Handicap, of 850 sovs. The meeting <if Danube and King Soult in the first-named event is causing a lot of interest.
