DISTRICT NEWS.

(From Our Own Correspondents.) KAIPARORO. Many welcome showers of rain have fallen during the past week, and the country, through slight/3" tinged with brown, presents a fairly verdant appearance. Owners of felled bush, and there aro several who have fairly largo blocks, womct now like, to see a few weeks of dry weather in order to obtain successful burns. The shearing in the district is now completed, and most of tiie woo! has been sent away. TJhe wool clip in most cases has proved thoroughly I satisfactory. Owing to the brisk demand for timber, the waggons are now employed in carting iioin Mr Parker's | mill, and ail hands are kept busily engaged in order to fulfil orders. Acting 011 a time-honoured custom, most of the people of the district journeyed to Eketahuna on Christmas Eve, and as usual all returned well satisfied with the outing. Christmas Day was spent very quietly, but its quietness made it none the less enjoyable, and its advent each year is always welcomed by young and old. Several families here are arranging a trip to the seaside in the near future. Mrs J. S. Lozoil, of "Kia Ora Pama," has left 011 a six weeks' visit to her relations the Auckland district. ■Mr A. Falkner, senr., has gone South on business.
