WAIRARAPA FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.
-- + - f PICNIC AT PIGEON BUSH. The annual picnic of the Wairarapa Friendly Societies was held at the admirable picnic ground at Pigeon Bush on Monday. The trains were well filled, and the attendance was set down as a record, largo contingents being present from all the towns in the valley. The weather was excellent and a most enjoyable time was spent. The following races were, got off:—Girls: Under 8, D. Baites; under 12, S. Barr; under 16, M. Booth; and young ladies, Miss Redmas. Boys: Under 8, E. Smith; under 12, F. King; under 16, ,T. Miller. Public school race (gold medal), L. King 1, S. Quinn 2. Married ladies race, Mrs B. Braggins. Friendly Societies' Handicap (gold modal), J. Brooks L, Cole 2. Baby Show, Miss Hill 1, Master Williams 2.
