STOCK AT THE INTERNATIONAL SHOW.
THE OPINION OF AN EXPERT. DOMINION POSSIBJLI TIES. Replying to the toast of his health at the banquet tendered to him at Fcilding, Mr E. Short briefly traversed the quality of the stock hs saw at the International Show at Buenos Ayres, Argentine. He said that both tlie Shorthorns and the Herefords were the cream of the world. Clydesdales were not so good ; Shires were not bad but terribly affected with -grease. The hacks were the best one could see anywhere, whilst the Perchorons could only be equalled in Paris. Merinos were splendid ah through. He said that during the last six vears land had increased in value in "the Argentine as it had in NewZealand, and the great fortunes there had been made out of land instead of practical farming. He found that there was a great demand for Herefords, and he said that he was sure, as regards sheep, that if New Zealand breederswere to send a few sheep there every year they would ultimately reap'the benefit, and prove toll::' South Americans that New Zealand sheep Avere'just as good as the English. We ' could also compete successfully with them in Herefords, and the matter only wanted pushing by the breeders.—Manawatu Standard.
