"ONE VOTE, ONE RIFLE."
DEFENCE OF SOUTH AFRICA. Received this Morning, 1.50 o'clock. JOHANNESBURG, Dec. 19. Lord Metliuen, at the Hand Pioneers' dinner, hearily thanked Mr Steyn, ex-President of the Orange Free State, for his speech at Vrede, in which he placed defence in the forefront, and advocated a burgher force, comprising all able-bodied men. Mr Steyn's speech urged that South Africa's motto should be, besides "one vote, one value," "ons vote, one rifle."
