AMUSEMENTS.
AUCKLAND CENTRAL BAND & GLEE PARTY, Preliminary notice is given in our advertising columns of the approaching visit of. the Auckland Central Mission; Band and Glee Party, who, are visiting the district under the ~*' auspices of the No-License Party. We understand that the band consists of 30 instrumentalists of great ability, including several gold and silver The Batid, as its name indicates, is connected with the Auckland Central .Missions—a non-sectarian body whose object is the furtherance of the Gospel amongst the non-church-goers of that city. The bandmaster, Mr Bernanct, was a prominent member of the Austral Guards Band which visited the district some years ago, and whose playing was so greatly admired. Mr Bernand has had long experience both as player and instructor, and takes infinite pains to bring out the 4 very best there is in Ms men. The Glee Party is under the conductorship of Mr 0. Bridges, the deputy bandmaster, who has had a Jot of experience as conductor both in New Zealand and Australia. The combination is a strong one, and never Tails to draw big crowds both in ' street and hall, and, as intimated elsewhere, will visit Masterton on Wednesday, December 28th, and Sunday and Wednesday, January Ist and 4th next. '
THOMPSON-PAYNE PJCTUHES.
The splendid; programme provided at the Foresters' Hall last evening by Messrs Thompson and Payne was thoroughly appreciated by a packed house. Of the;dramas. "An Arcadian Maid" was one of those delightful studies for which the American Biograph Company is so famous. "The Hunchback's Secret" is a pathetic rustic drama. "A Wo--■*-man's Ingratitude" is a eoul-strring ■drama, beautifully coloured. The sporting section of the audience were well catered for in a fine drama entitled "The Romance of a Jockey," and a picture showing* the race for the last Victorian Uerby. bk Three splendid scehics were shown jp "Among the Chilluks," "The Army Keview," and "The •Promenades of Paris." There was a giant budget of good comics, the best being "A Countryman's Odyssea'in Town." The programme will be repeated this evening, and to-morrow afternoon there will he the usual children's free matinee.
