One of the Socialist members, Herr Ledebour, said that the ...Emperor's speech, glorifying his ancestors and upholding the divine right of kings, irritated the people, and held Germany up to ridicule in the eyes of the world. Herr Ledebour spoke mockingly of the Hohenzollern family cult deriving its power from the Most High. The Kaiser's ancestors, declared the speaker, had obtained the Prussian Crown from a Roman Emperor through begging and whining and by all means of intrigue at the Court in Vienna.
