Mr A. H. Rollo, a sheepbreeder at Otaki, is reported to be a candidate for the Otaki scat. A Sydney cable states that Mr Allan Taylor has been re-elected Lord Mayor of Sydney. Mr George Baird, a son of Mrs Baird, of "Brammerton," Masterton, arrived home last evening, after an absence of thirteen years, spent in Klondyke and other parts of the Yukon. Mr Baird and Dr Archer Hosking made the trip, but the latter returned after two or three years' stay. Mr Bushel], who has been in business in Masterton for some few months as an auctioneer, left yesterday for Christchurch, where he is joining the firm of Messrs Cooper and Duncan. Mr Finnegan, who has been in partnership with Mr Bushell, is leaving for Sydney. Both of these gentlemen have ma<le numerous friends during their short stay in Masterton, and the best, of wishes are entertained for their future success.- ■: "'"' ' '•''.'■: ; . •' Mr E. G. Langton, manager' for Mr P. Hamill's- town drapery and mercery business, Masterton, has decided to take an extended health-re-cruiting trip to Australia, and possibly to the Old country. During his "absence Mr A. P. Williamson, who has had considerable experience in the leading centres, will manage the Mr Langton expects to leave Masterton about the middle of next month.
