MR BOWLING'S VISIT.

Nobody, seems to know who,, in particular, is responsible- for tho visit to Masterton of Mr Peter Bowling, or what is his particular mission. If it is to sow dissension among the labouring classes, then, it "lis tp be hoped that it. will ignominiously fail. The writer of "Labour Notes"/-in-, the, Evening- Post, who. is ,a "Unionist," says that Mr Bowling belongs to" the "revolutionary" school. Ho is bitterly opposed to the Labour Party in Australian politics, and has de-

scribed Mr W. M. Hughes, the Federal Attorney-General, as "the arch-traitor," an "enemy of the working class," etc. Tho writer says that "those prominent in, the "movement for the creation of a "Labour Party in New Zealand poli"tics, in common with labour men "and members in other countries, "may expect to be subjected to "an 'abusive tirade' by individuals "of Mr Bowling's school." The Labour Party in New Zealand would bo a force to be reckoned with if there were cohesion in its ranks. But, when a house is divided against itself, it cannot be expected to stand.
