LONDON WOOL SALES
Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., have received the following cablo from London in connection with the wool sales now current: — "For inferior and faulty merinos prices have weakened 5 per cent as the sales have progressed. Home buvers are operating sparingly. Crossbreds generally continue on a par with open rates, but continental buyers are operating sparingly for this class."
MASTERTON STOCK SALES,
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report on their fortnightly sale at the W aipoua yards yesterday, as follows: — Sheep were represented by shorn 2tooth wethers, woolly hoggets, and empty ewes (woolly), all of which met with a geed market, and sold under the hammer. In cattle all classes were represented, and the quality being good and fair throughout, we were enabled to make a clearance at rates fully up to those of recent sales. All pigs offering also changed hands. Two-tooth shorn wethers made 12s 3d—these were a well-grown even lot—dry ewes in the wool, 14s lid; medium woolly hoggets, 14s 2d; good coloured 3yr steers, £5 9s; 2yr okls, £4; ISmos. 555; yearlings, mixed sexes, good colours, 555; young cows and calves, £4 7s 6d; fat cows, £5 to £5 2s; very forward cows, £4 2s; backward cow s, £2 15s to £3; pigs, porkers 15s weaners lis.
Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having held their usual fortnightly sale in the Waipoua yards yesterday, when they offered a very small yarding, but all lots advertised came forward. Our entry comprised only cattle and a fair entry of pigs. Amongst the lines of cattle offered were a very good line from Messrs Barton Bros., Mataikona, which realised the good price of £7 Os 6d. All other lines were sold under the hammer at late ruling prices. We quote as follows: —Three and 4-year old steers, £7 Os 6d; 3-year old steers, £5 13s to £5 17s; fat cows, £5; forward empty heifers to £3 4s. Pigs.—Well grown slips 10s 6d, 10s 9d, 12s to 13s 3d; porkers to 2os.
PAHIATUA STOCK SALE.
Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report as follows :—We submitted a large yarding of both sheep and cattle to a good attendance of buyers. All classes of sheep met a brisk sale, practically all lines selling above anticipations. In cattle ire offered a very attractive line of empty dairy heifers on behalf of Mr T. Quirk, numbering close on two hundred. They were evenly drafted according to size and breeding, and their condition and quality were exceptionally good. Buyers were in attendance from the Manawatu and Wairarapa. Bidding twas most spirited throughout, and record prices were obtained, reaching £5 16s for a pen of Holstein cross heifers. Other cattle sold at good val-' ues. Quotations: —Aged ewes and lambs, 14s Cd to 15s; dry sheep, ]2s 9d to 18s 9d ; , small woolly hoggets, lis lid; shorn 2-tooth wethers, 9s, 10s Id, to lis lid; shorn ewes arid wethers, 9s 9cl to lis 3d. On behalf of Mr T. QuirkHolstein cross heifers, £5 5s to £5 16s; Jersey cross heifers, £4-ss, £4 12s, and £4 16s; Ayrshire cioss heifers, £4 10s and £4 18s; 'Shorthorn heifers, £3 12s Gd, £4 3s, £4 14s, £4 16s, and £5 Is, according to size and : quality. On behalf of Mr J. G. Brechin: Pedigree yearling Jersey bulls, £lO 10s' to £l7 17s; Grade Jersey yearling bulls, to 3 guineas. On account of other vendors: Fat cows, £5 15s to £6 Is; empty cows,. £2 10s to £3 14s; cows and calves, £3 12s to £3 13s 6d; dairy ' cows £6; springing heifers, £4 5s to £4 10s; empty heifers, £3 8s to £4 6s; yearling heifers, 36s to £2 10s; bulls, £3 to £5 2s 6d.

Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their JohnsonviHe sale as follows: —A smaller yarding of sheep and cattle came forward, and sold at late rates. Best bullocks made £9 7s Gd to £9 10s; lighter, £9 to £9 2s 6d; light, £8 12s 6d ; vcalers, 275; 6d to 31s Gd ; coavs, £6 12s Gd : prime wethers, 16s 7d to 16s ,9d; .plain wethers, 15s; ewes 14s 5d to 15s lid; woolly ewes, 22s 8d; prime himj)s, 13s 8d to 14s 3d; lighter, 12s 6d to 13s Gd.
