TRAMWAYMAN KILLED.

AUCKLAND, Last Night. , gliomas A. Thompson, a single man <wr£loyed as a.motorman on the electric tramways, was killed at 10.45 last night. His car suddenly caught lire; the flames were extinguished, hut the car was disabled. Another car was being attached to the disabled car, when a third car, driven by Motorman Ernest Dawe, came up and bumped into the second cat. Thompson was stooping between his own and the second car, fixing the couplings, and was crushed between the buffers of the two ears. Death was instantaneous. The occurrence was witnessed by fully two hundred - , people, including many ladies, and a great sensation. Tnompson was a fine athletic young man, and was thirty years of age.
